A Visit to Trans-Africa

By M. V. CAMPBELL
Vice-President of the General Conference

... The Republic of Kenya was particu-
larly interesting to me because the field
in its early days was almost exclusively
manned by college friends of mine from
England. The Kisii area of this nation
brought to my mind the days, about 45
years ago, when my brother-in-law and
and sister, Elder and Mrs. E. A. Beavon,
went there to pioneer the work, remain-
ing for ten years. Elder Beavon reduced
the Kisii language to writing, and trans-
lated the Gospel of John into that lan-
guage for the British and Foreign Bible
Society. The son of his first convert to
Christianity is now president of the
nearby field of Ranen. God has greatly
blessed the work among the Kisii people,
and their small area now has one of the
greatest concentrations of Adventists on
the African continent....
